**A Log that Unrolls into a Chess Set?** 

This log is a beautiful decorative piece that doubles as a rolled-up chessboard. Remove both end caps to reveal unique mushroom-themed chess pieces and a wood-colored board. The end caps can even be used as coasters during your match. 

The chess pieces are stored inside the chessboard in two sets, each colored to match the board. 

**Botany Test?** 

The mushrooms and log are photoscans of real plants! Test your botany skills with the following plant names: 

– **Log:** Pine Tree 

– **Pawn:** Penny Bun 

– **Rook:** Shiitake 

– **Bishop:** King Trumpet (yes, we made the King trumpet the bishop) 

– **Knight:** Yellow Morel 

– **Queen:** Fly Agaric 

– **King:** Chanterelle 

**Board Assembly** 

1. Print all 8 log pieces, the top, and bottom in one color.
2. Print 32 squares in another color.
3. Cut strings of 1.75mm (standard) filament slightly longer than the log and sharpen one end with a knife or cutter.
4. Connect the log pieces with the strings by inserting the pointy end.
5. Cut off the string ends.
6. Glue in all squares.
7. Glue 6 magnets in the holes in log parts 1 and 8 – ensure they face the correct direction (optional but recommended).
8. Each log segment is numbered 1 through 8 for easy assembly.

– **Print direction:** STLs are rotated correctly 

– **Nozzle size:** 0.4 mm 

– **Line width:** 0.4 mm 

– **Infill:** 15%

– **Layer height:** 0.2 mm 

– **Support:** Only log pieces 1-8 need support. Use “touching build plate” with a 20-degree “threshold angle” (in Cura, set “Support overhang angle” to 70).
